3+3=7 is a wildly unusual ensemble consisting of three guitars and three drummer/percussionists, led by composer/guiatrist Joel Harrison. The music has many diverse influences including Jimi Hendrix, Sun Ra, Paul Bley, Bill Frisell, Indian and African music, and Charles Ives. Through interplay, improvisation, and composition, the group attempts to create as many unusual sounds, textures and moods as possible. This ensemble features some of the most original, outrageous performers on the scene today in a unique and exciting setting.

Nels Cline (guitar) hails from L.A. where he has been at the forefront of the new music scene, performing and recording with Vinny Golia, Julius Hemphill, Charlie Haden, and Mike Watt. His own group (The Nels Cline Trio) has recorded two CDs for the Enja label. John Schott (guitar) is known for his work with Warner Bros. recording artists T.J.Kirk. He also performs with clarinetist Ben Goldberg and the ROVA Saxophone quartet. Gino Robair (drums) is the drummer for the Splatter Trio, while Eliot Kavee plays with the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Graham Connah, and the Clubfoot Orchestra. Geoffrey Gordon (percussion) has played with many stalwarts of the New York downtown scene and has recorded on ECM with David Torn. He currently plays with Jai Uttal and Stephen Kent.
