This is to introduce you Yasuhiro OTANI as storyteller with improviser/performer lives in TOKYO. OTANI has solo tour in US/EUROPE from Middle of OCT. The schedule is the following.

19th OCT to 26th OCT : Chicago Modern Art Museum / Workshop,Concert
27th OCT to Middle of NOV: Now Booking in US
8th NOV : Beanbender's, Berkeley, CA.

OTANI is known to many people as composer of new music which has new structure based on something story like. OTANI's music so unique that it is difficult to categorize his music into present music categories.

Using instruments: Macintosh PowerBook
Software: Max and Handmade software for Real time playing.
Project on screen or self-body/Visual/Text image is controled with sound.

OTANI has many inspirations from Daily life, something happen just now, novels, Poems, TV, Radio, incidents, etc... For example, When he improvises music, it is influenced by everyting happend in a day. Audience can feel it from his sound and sound structure for using many materials which were recorded by himself. When he collaborates with a director of dance, First OTANI creates drawing, figures and text based on his idea and director's idea. Then, they need nothing else. They do not need rehearsal. OTANI will play and compose with many Material which prepared by himself on realtime on stage. And OTANI's music will be completely synchronized with dance on stage.

I would like to tell you about two interesting CD which will be released in OCT 1998.
One is "Brain Wash" as OTANI's SOLO Work from IEL label.
One is "DIAL" as Duo OTANI & Tatsu AOKI(AvantBass Player) from AIR.
